Today's reading is Job 10-13.
Job was holding nothing back in Chapter 10...asking God to show Him why this was happening. Asking way was he born?
Chapter 11 friend #3 Zophar speaks up and again is saying Job you must repent. Job was not claiming sinlessness, he acknowledged that he sinned (7:21) but Job maintained that he was innocent from any great trangression...but Zophar was not buying it. He was saying you must have sinned and you need to repent.
Yes we do need to be obedient to God and repent when we sin and God does bless His people with hope, security and peace....but Zophar just like the other two friends didn't understand that God allows unpredictable and seemingly unfair suffering for reasons now knows to us.
Job again responds to his friends saying basically I know what you are saying but it is not the case in this situation. 12:3-13:3 Job talks about God's power, wisdom and sovereignty of God. 13:4-19 Job address his friends...calling their 'help' as worthless and it would be best if they were silent. Job continues to trust in God (v15) .
The end of today's reading 13:20-14:22 Job turns to God again and asks why.
I am glad that we see Job address God and asking the tough questions. I think sometimes we are afraid to ask God the why questions. But also learn from this book that we do not understand God's ways...and we must continue to trust Him.
Much still to come...
